The Hispanic Choice Awards is a production of the Hispanic Yellow Pages; publishers of Hispanic directories serving Philadelphia and South Jersey.
Begun in 2004 as a promotional campaign for the directories, the awards event soon grew to obtain a personality and image all to its own.
The producers of the event developed an awards show concept that objectively would provide the Latino communities of the greater Philadelphia area an opportunity to voice their own choices and opinions for individuals and organizations/businesses who are deserving of recognition based on the positive impact they are making in their communities and in the region.
The Hispanic Choice Awards honors and celebrates Philadelphia’s FAVORITE Hispanic people, organizations and businesses as chosen by its community in a variety of categories. This event promotes professional, personal and cultural achievements among Latinos in the greater Philadelphia area.
An online voting campaign at PhillyHCA.com tabulates entries. The three (3) month long voting campaign begins in January. Voters are instructed to vote for their “Favorite” in a variety of categories.
The top (4) names receiving the most votes in each category become the nominees. They are publicly announced via the media and an official press conference. The name in each category with the largest number of votes is revealed as the winner live during the Hispanic Choice Awards Gala.
The Hispanic Choice Awards Gala is held in the Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and is highlighted by performances from international and local musical and dance artists. Well known Hispanics from the media, business and civic communities participate as award presenters.
